Book Blogger Hop: Week of 3/30-4/5

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question: 30th – April 5th –How many book clubs do you belong to? If you do belong to an in-person book club, do you have meetings in the day or evening? Do you meet at someone’s house or meet at a local restaurant or coffee house?  (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I actually don’t belong to any bookclubs. Personally, I am a little too busy to be able to join any right now, but I would love to join one when I am out of school. Currently, two friends and I are reading Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman and then we have plans to discuss it once everyone is done. We “started” this about a week after the Grammys? (I think that was the award show) and have I started the book yet? That would be a no, but I did buy it with the intention of starting it soon! It’s okay though because they are listening to the audiobook, so I think I will have time to finish before both of them do. Hopefully. If you can call this a book club, then I guess technically I am in one but we have yet to meet.

What about you? Are you in any book clubs?

Book Blogger Hop: Week of 3/23-3/29

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question: 23rd – 29th – When meeting with friends, do your discussions usually turn to books? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

This is a really good question. If I know that my friend that I am meeting is a book addict like me, then most definitely our conversation turns into a book discussion! Sometimes, when I am with friends who don’t read as much but they know I do they will sometimes ask what they should read next or ask for input. Normally though they will just message me for a list of books to check out when they are on the hunt for their next read.

What about you? Do you have conversations that turn into book discussions?

Book Blogger Hop: Week of 3/16-3/22

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question:16th – 22nd – Who is your favorite children’s books author and why? (submitted by Kitty @ Vicarious Bookworm)

The first one that comes to mind is Mary Pope Osborne and her Magic Tree House series! I loved these books growing up, and every time we had one of those Scholastic catalogs I tried to get all the books! My dad let me circle all the books that I wanted and then he would go through and pick out a few that would add up to the limit he gave me. When I got a bit older he let me do all of that myself. I felt like such a big girl and I thought that was how everyone had to buy books when it wasn’t Book Fair time. Through these Scholastic catalogs was when I first discovered The Magic Tree House and I built up quite a collection thanks to them. Now that I have a little person, I hope to be able to do the same thing for her. (Side note: do they still do those Scholastic catalogs in elementary school?!)

Book Blogger Hop: Week of 2/9-2/15

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question: 9th – 15th – What authors have you met and where? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

In 2016, I went to my very first book festival in Austin, Texas. While there I met some amazing authors for the very first time!!! Let’s see if I can remember them all:

  • Leigh Bardugo
  • Sabaa Tahir
  • Roshani Chokshi
  • Kendare Blake
  • Laini Taylor
  • E.K. Johnston

I feel like I am missing a few, but that’s all I can remember right now off the top of my head.

I wish I could have gone last year, but having a newborn kind of determined that that wasn’t going to happen. So this year, I plan on taking my one year old and introducing her to book festival life early! 😉

Who have you met?

Here is a little throwback pic to when I met Bardugo and got my duology signed!

Oh, and happy day after Valentine’s to you!

Book Blogger Hop: Week of 2/2-2/8

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question: 2nd – 8th – Do you prefer to blog about (a) specific book genre(s), or do you have an eclectic blog? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

I kind of have an eclectic blog. I tend to do a lot of YA fantasy books, but sometimes I like to branch out and read a good contemporary here and there. So I guess, you can say that I do tend to blog about specifically young adult books and hardly ever do any other type of books.

What about you? What genre do you like to blog about?

This weeks question:  Jan 26th – February 1st – Do you ever go back to older posts and change things? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I only do this if I notice I made a grammatical error. If my opinions change, then I’ll do an update at the bottom and if it’s a book review probably write a whole new post and link it back to the original.

What do you do?

Book Blogger Hop

This weeks question: Jan 19th-25th – When reading a mass paperback book, many people fold the cover back, as if they were reading a magazine. Doing this will eventually create creases in the spine. How do you feel about this common bookish habit? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

I didn’t know that this was a common bookish habit. I personally don’t fold back any cover regardless of the type of book it is. They all get displayed on my bookcase and I want to keep them as long as possible, especially now that I have a daughter. I hope that she will one day want to read all of these amazing books that I have collected over the years!

This weeks question: Jan 12th-18th – What upcoming titles are looking forward to reading in 2018?

There are a lot of titles coming out this year that I am looking forward to! It’s going to be so hard to narrow that down, but I’ll list the top 5 books I am looking forward to!

1. legendary

This is the sequel to Stephanie Garber’s Caraval. I’m very happy that this will only be a duology, because I am a little worn out of series that last forever! This one focus’ more on Donatella, and her turn at trying to win Caraval.

Expected Publication: May 29th

2. obsidioI am so excited for the last book in this series to come out!!! I loved, loved, loved the first one (and I am about a quarter of the way through the second one). Obsidio centers around Asha and Rhys, and their fight after the initial attack on Kerenza.

Expected Publication: March 13th

3. myplanejaneMy Lady Jane was so unexpected, that I enjoyed every minute of it! I can’t see what the authors do to Jane Eyre’s story!

Expected Publication: June 26th

4. catwomanSarah J Maas. Enough said.

Expected Publication: August 7th

5. The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

There isn’t much about this one yet (not even a cover picture yet). This one will be about Felicity and include pirate queens and sea monsters!

Expected Publication: October 2nd

This weeks question: Dec 29th – January 4th – What character or characters would you not mind sharing a New Year’s kiss with? (submitted by Kitty @ Vicarious Bookworm)

This is a very hard question. There are just so many on my list of literary boyfriends, that I would not mind what so ever to share a midnight kiss with. Hmm….let’s go with August Flynn from the Monsters of Verity series by Victoria Schwab, mainly because I just bought Our Dark Duet and I can’t wait to read it!

Who is your midnight kiss with?

Book Blogger Hop: Week of 12/22-28th

Book Blogger Hop

This weekly hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, featuring a question about books each week. The purpose is to bring bookish bloggers together, basically. To participate, write a post about the question for that week and add your link.

This weeks question:22nd – 28th – Have you ever asked co-workers to give you a book or B&N gift card if they got your name for a Secret Santa gift exchange? If so, did you get whet you asked for? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

Shoot, I ask for this every year for Christmas to anyone who wants to know what to get me! Last year, my husband outdid himself and basically got every book on my Christmas list. =) Seriously, the best hubby ever. This year, I did receive one BN gift card from a family member, and all the books I bought myself and “wrapped” for the baby! (Insert shrugging emoji here, lol). My hubby and I decided not to buy each other presents since we did adult things like bought a house and had a baby. So therefore baby S got a bunch of books for Christmas =). I so can’t wait for next year, when I can start a new tradition of opening up one book each day of December.

Do you have any special traditions you do with your kids (if you have them)? I’m looking for traditions to start as baby S gets bigger!
