Waiting on Wednesday (3/28/2018)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by  Jill from Breaking The Spine that shows the upcoming books that many of us are anticipating! This week, I’m waiting for…

 aceofshades

Title:  Ace of Shades (The Shadow Game #1)

Author: Amanda Foody (Goodreads Author)

Expected Publication: April 10th 2018

Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Goodreads Summary:

Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.

Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.

Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.

Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…

And she’ll need to play.

I love going on Goodreads and looking for new books and new to me authors! I probably would have never heard of this book if I didn’t have to scroll the new release section. This book sounds really interesting and kind of gives me A Heart of Dread vibe, but without the fantasy element.

What are you waiting for this week? How do you find out about new releases if you don’t use Goodreads?

Goodreads Monday (3/26/2018)

Goodreads Monday is a meme hosted by Lauren @Page Turner,  and the idea is to post a book that’s on your TBR pile and show it off. This is a great way to show off books I have not yet managed to read!

This week I have chosen:

runaways

Title:  Pride and Joe (Runaways vol 1)

Author: Brian K. VaughanAdrian Alphona (Artist)

Published: December 6th 2006 by Marvel

Goodreads Summary:

Meet Alex, Karolina, Gert, Chase, Molly and Nico – a group of teens whose lives are about to take an unexpected turn…

Runaways vol. 1 #1-6

In honor of us finally getting Hulu (thanks Sprint), I can finally watch Runaways or you know The Handmaid’s Tale that everyone has been raving about since last summer. My friend bought me this book for my birthday two months ago, and now that I can watch the show this book is jumping to the top of my TBR pile. Right behind Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones (thanks NetGalley) and Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman (thanks to my new book club).

So far with my newfound streaming service, my hubbie and I have been binge watching Kitchen Nightmares. What are some Hulu originals that we need to check out?

What is on your TBR shelf this week?

This week I have chosen:

everlife

Title:  Everlife (Everlife #3)

Author:Gena Showalter (Goodreads Author)

Published: February 27th 2018 by Harlequin Teen

Goodreads Summary:

STAND TOGETHER OR FALL ALONE.

THE FATE OF THE EVERLIFE HANGS IN THE BALANCE.

At seventeen years old, Tenley “Ten” Lockwood had to make the ultimate choice—where to live after she died. Loyalty to her selected realm has not wavered…until now. She is out of time. Sacrifices must be made, and a terrible price must be paid. But is she too late?

As the Everlife descends into darkness, a single truth becomes clear: Troika and Myriad must unite—or perish. In order to bring sworn enemies together, Ten must enter forbidden territory…and destroy the powerful Prince of Ravens. But there’s only one way inside—bonding with Killian Flynn, a deadly rival who sets her blood aflame.

When nothing goes as planned and betrayal leads to the edge of utter defeat, Ten and Killian will have to rebuild trust from the ashes of their hearts. Victory seems impossible, the odds stacked against them. In the end, how far will they be willing to go for the sake of their realms and the Everlife?

I’ve been following this series since it first came out two years ago. I have the first book on my TBR shelf already and now that this book is out I need to get the 2nd and 3rd. Showalter became one of my favorite authors after I read The White Rabbit Chronicles and I hope that this series lives up to my expectations! I haven’t really heard much about it since the series started, and I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
