January Wrap Up and February TBR

January has come and gone and we are in a whole new month of 2018! January went by so quickly, I hope that is not a sign for the rest of the year! I set my Goodreads Challenge to one book a week and I am already failing at it! ūü§¶ūüŹĽ‚Äć‚ôÄÔłŹ

This past month, I read 2/4 books:

These were fairly quick reads, and I still have to write their reviews. It’s on my to do list!

January was also birthday month!!!! So that means I bought a significant amount of books all thanks to turning another year older and a lot of Christmas gift cards ūüėā.

I left out Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu, I left it on the shelf with Wonder Woman by Leigh Bardugo and completely forgot about it. The book that I am most excited about to start reading is A Darker Shade of Magic, now that I have the first book I can start the series!!

Now that brings us to my February TBR:

I need to finish reading Wintersong by S Jae Jones, so that’s on the top of my list.

Followed by in no particular order:

How was your January? What books are you planning on reading this month?

There is one book that I am very excited about that is releasing later this month. Can you guess what it is?

Check out my post tomorrow on Waiting on Wednesday….;)

November Wrap Up

Hello December!!! My Christmas tree has been up for over a week now, and the next thing that has to go up are my lights around the house! Maybe I can convince the hubby to do it with the promise of pie or cookies as a reward. December is one of my favorite months, and I can’t wait to see what this month has in store for me, my family, and my blog!

November was a busy month for me! I read quite a few books and most of the ones that I had put for that month’s TBR. I am still many many books behind schedule on my GoodReads challenge, and at this point I am just going to have to be okay with not finishing my goal of 75 books (maybe I can read baby S size books and count that towards my reading challenge ;)).

This month I read:

  1. Lady of Sherwood by Molly Bilinski
  2. Cinderella.com by River Laurent
  3. Bellamy and the Brute by Alicia Michaels
  4. NeverSea by Jenetta Penner and David R. Bernstein
  5. I also read a few baby S books to her that I might have included in my GR account (some books I didn’t add, but maybe I should?)

Last month I said I wasn’t going to buy any books, except for one. And well I kind of broke that rule last weekend during Black Friday. #sorrynotsorry

IMG_4485

I think I did pretty well. I only bought myself three books, and I bought three books for baby S. Her collection is looking pretty good right now, and I can’t wait to really start reading her bedtime stories. I read to her now, but I can’t wait until she can start engaging in story time. =) (The last book is Baby Beluga by Raffi Cavoukian)

This month I plan on reading:

I’ll be traveling for a couple of weeks, so I really plan on reading some books off of my Kindle and save¬†Renegades¬†and¬†Windwitch for when I return home.

How was your November? What do you plan on reading this month?

Currently I am reading two books that I hope to finish before Sunday:

  1. Nameless (Tales of Beauty & Madness #1) by Lili St. Crow
  2. Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Amie Kauffman & Jay Kristoff

October Monthly Wrap Up

Can you believe that it’s October 1st already? This past month has been a whirlwind of activity for me. I felt like I became a real adult because I’m taking care of a baby girl who turned one month, bought and moved into a brand new house, and that’s about it. I feel like all good things comes in threes (or at least when you are listing things out), so I guess I’ll come up with a third reason soon enough.

This month has been a better reading month for me. I am still 18 books behind schedule (and that’s even lowering my Goodreads Challenge number to 75!). It seems as soon as I finish a book and the number goes down to 17, the next day it is back to 18 (lol). Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch up and actually read 75 books by the end of December!

This month I read:

  1. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
  2. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  3. The Language of Thorns:Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
  4. The Giant Slayer (The Grimm Chroncicles #7) by Isabella Fontaine and Ken Brosky

This month by book haul was a little crazy, I said I was only going to buy The Language of Thorns and One Dark Crown by Kendare Blake. Well, I ended up buying a bunch more than that. Here is a pic below:

This month (although I already bought one book) my plan is to not buy any books until the new year. I really need to slim down my TBR shelves, it is now overflowing. But, if I happen to find a copy of A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab then I am definitely buying it! I need it in order to start the trilogy, and actually a brand new cover was released on Tuesday so I might have to get that one in order to get all of the bonus content! I just wish it was white like the rest of the series so that it won’t stand out on my shelf.

This month I plan on reading:

The bottom three books came from a recent LitCube live sale purchase, so I am curious to see how these retellings stack up against the originals.

How was your October? What do you plan on reading this month?

September Monthly Wrap UP

  1. The Complete Grimm Chronicles books #2-6 by Isabella Fontaine and Ken Brosky
  2. Once and for All by Sarah Dessen

That is a lot better than the one book I read in August (and none in July)!

I bought quite a few books last month (and I only read one of them!)

  1. Warbringer  by Leigh Bardugo
  2. Once and for All by Sarah Dessen
  3. A Darkness Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
  4. The Forbidden Game (books 1-3) by L.J. Smith
  5. The Last Star by Rick Yancey
  6. The Shadow Hour by Melissa Grey
  7. The Lunar Chronicles Coloring Book
  8. and about 6 baby books for my daughter

This month I plan on only buying One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake and The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo!

My goal for October is to read at least one book a week. I know I will be reading the Illuminae Files (#1 and #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, When I Cast Your Shadow by Sarah Porter, and finish The Complete Grimm Chronicles by Isabella Fontaine and Ken Brosky.

Other than reading, my goal is to also at least blog 4 times a week. I already do two weekly posts, and hopefully I’ll keep myself accountable and be able to post two more times throughout the week. At least I have my mother in law in town for the month to help me out, so realistically this should be doable!

How was your September? What is on your TBR pile for this month?

June Wrap Up

Hey all, I know it’s already almost a week into July, but with the holiday it was a little busy at my house. I had to play protector to my dogs who were terrified of the fireworks. Thankfully, my neighborhood didn’t go all out like they normally do, so we only had to really deal with it for two days. Other than that, it was nice just being able to stand in my living room and watch fireworks without having to deal with mosquitos and the summer heat! How did you spend your fourth?

This month was a good reading month for me. I was able to read a good amount of books, but then I hit a reading slump near the end of the month. =/ I’m going on vacation soon (and we’re driving, ugh) so hopefully I’ll be able to read a bunch of books on the road.

This month I read:

Not bad considering I’ve been reading like one book a month during the Spring semester. I feel like now that it’s summer I have more time to do things, but I just have no motivation to do so, especially since I am supposed to be writing my thesis which is due at the end of the month!

  1. 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher 4 out of 5 stars
  2. Bad Blood by Demitria Lunetta 3 out of 5 stars
  3. Quinsey Wolfe’s Glass Vault by Candace Robinson 4 out of 5 stars
  4. Fallen Flame by J.M. Miller 3 out of 5 stars
  5. Rook by Sharon Cameron 4 out of 5 stars
  6. House of Ash by Hope Cook 4 out of 5 stars

I really suck at giving myself a monthly TBR pile, so I’m not going to make one the month of July. I’ll just read whatever book I pick up, because honestly it’s probably been on my TBR shelf for awhile. I’ll just set a goal of reading 5 books this month! I think that will be more obtainable!

In June, other than reading and my normal weekly blog posts, I started an ARC TBR Takedown Read-A-Thon hosted by Sam @RiverMoose-Reads. You can check out my first post with all of the info below. If you have a bunch of unread ARCs you can still join! It goes until the end of the month!

ARC TBR Takedown Read-A-Thon

I am on a book buying ban, so I haven’t bought a single book since probably April! Which I am very proud of myself for. Although I really want Sarah Dessen’s new book that just came out earlier in June, and of course when Leigh Bardugo release’s her book all bets are off!

How was your month of June? Did you accomplish any reading or blogging goals?

April Monthly Wrap-Up

I can’t believe it is already 6 days into May, and I am just now doing my wrap-up for April! Where has the time gone? Oh, I know to school. This past month has been nothing but presentations and deadlines, and I am so glad that on Tuesday it will finally be all over (for this semester at least, one more to go). April has been a great and terrible month for me. I was able to read a few more books than in March, I kept up with my blog a little bit more, and we found out that we are having a baby girl in September! So even with all my deadlines and presentations, April was still a win for me =).

This past month I read:

  1. Vassa in the Night by  Sarah Porter 4 out of 5 stars
  2. Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer 3 out of 5 stars
  3. The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey 4 out of 5 stars
  4. Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller 2 out of 5 stars
  5. The Scarlet Thread by D.S. Murphy 3 out of 5 stars (review coming soon)

Even though I read 5 books this month, I am still 12 books behind on my Goodreads Challenge =(. Hopefully, this summer I will be able to catch up and get ahead before the baby comes.

Normally, I would give myself a TBR list, but maybe I’ll just make my goal to read 5 or more books. With finals over on Tuesday, hopefully this will be a realistic challenge!

How was your reading/blogging last month? Hopefully, yours was better than mine! =p With my new found freedom, what are some books I should look into?

January Wrap Up and February TBR

I know it’s a few days past January, but I’ve been super busy with school this week so I had little to no free time after I got home. So today is the day that I will be playing catch up! I have about 4 book reviews to write and at least 2 books to read (okay, I have more than that on my TBR shelf).

This month  I read:

  1. The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
  2. Dorothy Must Die Stories Vol. I by Danielle Paige
  3. Lock & Mori: Mind Games by Heather W. Petty
  4. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
  5. Eon by Alison Goodman
  6. Wilder by Lena North
  7. Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham
  8. Shadows of the Forest by Emma Michaels
  9. Wanted by Betsy Schow
  10. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I read a fair amount of books this month, which is a lot better than previous months. So far I am 1 book ahead of my Goodreads challenge, lets see how long I can stay ahead! I am 4 reviews behind, so hopefully this weekend I will be able to catch up on them.

My January TBR was to read Truthwitch and Lock & Mori: Mind Games. For once I can say that I finally accomplished a TBR list for that month! This month I will like to read:

Two books seems to be a good limit for me to dedicate to actually reading. Lets see if I can accomplish two months in a row!

How did you do this past month? What books should I look out for this month?

November Wrap Up and December TBR

Another month has come and gone and now it is December! When did that happen?! I just so happen to love December, mainly because Christmas happens and then a week later it is New Years and then a week later it’s my birthday! That is almost a month of celebrating, and I am okay with that!

In November I read:

  1. Feed the Flames by Annette Marie, Check out my review here.
  2. Reap the Shadows by Annette Marie, Check out my review here.
  3. Unleash the Storm by Annette Marie, Check out my review here.
  4. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling, Check out my review here.
  5. Red Death by Jeff Altabef, Check out my review here.
  6. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, Check out my review here.

Not bad, I think I read more this month than I did in October! What books did you read in November? Which one was your favorite? Mine was Crooked Kingdom hands down! I love the world that Bardugo has created for us, and I wish I was part of the Dregs!

  7. How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather (ebook)
  8. The League of Beastly Dreadfuls by Holly Grant

I think I need to put myself on a book buying ban for the rest of the year. My TBR shelf is overflowing with books! Ah!!

This month has been a very busy month for me, especially at school. I am in the middle of writing my thesis proposal, okay I have hardly started on it and I was supposed to have finished back in August…oops. I did do a training on how to properly use a Wink Vibracore, so if you need core samples let me know ūüėČ

Other than school taking up my life, my husband and I did go to Baton Rouge for Thanksgiving to visit friends. It was a nice little break away from home and thinking about anything school related! I got a lot of reading done.

December TBR: (I don’t know why I give myself a TBR, I never stick to them.)

Maybe if I give myself only 4 books that I have to read this month, I will be most likely to finish them. We shall see!!! I might throw in a Christmas themed book as well.

What is on your TBR for this month?
